“Nothing of me is original. I am the combined effort of everyone I’ve ever known.”
Each and every person that has entered my life has contributed to the person I have become. I often feel like a chameleon. I find that I pick up so much from the people in my life. Even my accent and word choices change depending on people I am hanging out with. The experiences I have had with the people I have known have truly shaped me for better or worse.
“People, I have discovered, are layers and layers of secrets. You believe you know them, that you understand them, but their motives are always hidden from you, buried in their own hearts. You will never know them, but sometimes you decide to trust them.”
“But the miracle of all is,
When push comes to shove, we can be just as tough as Hickory.
It mostly hurts at first. After a while it starts to feel better.”
“The world is full of monsters with friendly faces.”
“I was, but then I realized that I was holding on to something that didn’t exist anymore. That the person I missed didn’t exist anymore. People change. The things we like and dislike change. And we can wish they couldn’t all day long but that never works.”
“I learned a long time ago not to judge people by what they look like, sound like, or by the clothes they wear. Just because a house is nice and shiny out front doesn’t mean it’s not rotting on the inside.”
“You know, some things don’t matter that much…Like the color of a house. How big is that in the overall scheme of life? But lifting a person’s heart – now, that matters.”
