Day 100 ~ City of Bones

Seeing through glamour is easy. It’s people that are hard.”

“There was something about Jace, though, that made her want to push him, crack that shell of cynicism and make him admit her believed something, felt something, cared about anythinng at all.”

“If there was one thing she was learning from all this, it was how easy it was to lose everything you had always thought you’d have forever.”

“Every teenager in the world feels like that, feels broken or out of place, different somehow, royalty mistakenly born into a family of peasants. The difference in your case is that it’s true.”

“It means ‘Shadowhunters: Looking Better in Black Than the Widows of our Enemies Since 1234’.”

“Don’t order any of the faerie food,” said Jace, looking at her over the top of his menu. “It tends to make humans a little crazy. One minute you’re munching a faerie plum, the next minute you’re running naked down Madison Avenue with antlers on your head. Not,” he added hastily, “that this has ever happened to me.”

“I don’t want tea,” said Clary, with muffled force. “I want to find my mother. And then I want to find out who took her in the first place, and I want to kill them.” “Unfortunately,” said Hodge, “we’re all out of bitter revenge at the moment, so it’s either tea or nothing.”

“What do you want?” “Just coffee. Black – like my soul.”

“Half of your attention is better than all of anyone else’s.”

“Rule number one of anime,” Simon said. He sat propped up against a pile of pillows at the foot of his bed, a bag of potato chips in one hand and the TV remote in the other. He was wearing a black T-shirt that said I BLOGGED YOUR MOM and a pair of jeans that were ripped in one knee. “Never screw with a blind monk.”

“That’s why when major badasses greet each other in movies, they don’t say anything, they just nod. The nod means, ‘I’ am a badass, and I recognize that you, too, are a badass,’ but they don’t say anything because they’re Wolverine and Magneto and it would mess up their vibe to explain.”

“You know,” Clary said, “most psychologists agree that hostility is really just sublimated sexual attraction.” “Ah,” said Jace blithely, “that might explain why I so often run into people who seem to dislike me.”

To celebrate the 100 quote, I wanted to use my favorite book series by my favorite author. I was a huge fan of Cassandra Clare even while she was an amature fanfiction writer. When she came out with City of Bones, I bought it and was immediately sucked into the amazing universe and characters she was created. 🙂 I highly recommend checking out her series (Mortal Instruments and Inferno Devices). A fantasy novel where a darker world exists unknown to the mere mundanes such as ourselves,  filled with warlocks, fairies (NOT the tinkerbell kind), werewolves, vampires, demons, angels, and the shadowhunters created to fight evil. If you love YA books, plot lines that keep you guessing, multidimensional characters, love to laugh (which you will most definitely do), and maybe even cry some ( I know I did), than you will absolutely love these books!

I know this is far more quotes than I usually use, but I honestly couldn’t decide which to use, and I really wanted to provide a variety of quotes for people to see why I love this series. I thought this was hard using only one quote.

I am forever in your debt for introducing me to this series! If they ever get around to making the movie (they supposedly start shooting in August last I heard) I am so flying out to see it with you, and we have to go to the midnight premiere!
