“It’s funny how humans can wrap their mind around things and fit them into their version of reality.”
I’ve always found it interesting how people have the tendency to close their minds to any other possibility then the one they believe is correct. To get someone else to see, understand and believe something beyond what they already ‘know’ can be a challenge. It is often easy for them to just rework what they have learned, heard or seen and fit it into what they already know is true. Instead of being open to the idea of something existing outside their own thoughts and reality, people instead have the tendency to find a why to make things and ideas fit into what they believe.
We also tend to take in new information and interpret it into what already exist in our minds. We are also drawn to things that we already relate to and that makes sense to us or at least we rework it in our minds so that it does fit into what we understand. It is difficult, but by opening our minds and selves to other possible ideas, concepts, opinions etc we are allowing for the growth of seeing the world and the people in it in a new light.
“I used to think there was all this time. Huge amounts of time. I even thought you could control time with your mind- how stupid is that? I thought that if you concentrated, you could stretch one minute out forever-see the tennis ball slowly coming toward the racket, you know?…But now I know that you can’t control time. Time controls you. And there are so many things I want to do. God, so many things.” -Maria DeLuca
The Salvation- The 10th and Final book of the Roswell High Series
First of all, let me clarify that this is the book series that the Early 2000’s WB series was based off of. While many of the characters are the same as well as the initial plot, it is surprisingly different, and I actually enjoyed parts of it more 🙂 It is a quick easy YA series to read and if you have the chance and liked the tv series or books that fall into the paranormal genre I recommend it.
I wasn’t going to use this quote for today’s post, but if you notice, even though it is the 16th post, today is officially the 17th. Somehow I ran out of time on the 16th to get this post in before the day ended. But I think that is a part of life. We often feel as if we have plenty of time. Time to get that work done, time to spend with your family, time to take that vacation, time to tell someone you love them. But really how much time do we have? And do we have enough time to do everything we want to? Unfortunately we have no control of time. We can’t pause it because we need more time, or fast forward it to get to a better part. If there is one constant in life, it is that tick tick tick as time goes on. Whether we are here or not, time goes on. So the question that you have to ask yourself, is what are you going to do with the time you have.
