“But if there was one thing she knew from years as a mechanic, it was that some stains never came out.”
I absolutely loved this quote when I stumbled on it. In the context of the page, it has a literal meaning of stains not coming out. But I felt it could also be viewed on a deeper more abstract level. Many people have seen quotes or references to the past leaving scars. To me this is similar. We encounter moments that leave ‘stains’ in our lives. No matter how much we scrub, soak, and bleach the stain, it never fades completely. Is the clothing item still usable, sure, can you still wear it, why not. But that stain is still there. Even if you throw it away, that doesn’t make the actual stain go away. This doesn’t mean that you can’t live with the stains left behind. It just means that even though they may fade, the stains of your life are always there.
